Are you a householder aged 60 or over, in receipt of Rates Relief but not housing benefit with an existing boiler at least 15 years old and inefficient? If you can answer yes to all of these questions then you may be eligible to apply for a boiler replacement allowance of up to £1,500.
The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has released a pilot scheme to allow vulnerable households to receive up to £1,500 towards the replacement of an old inefficient boiler. If you meet the criteria above and own your own home or rent privately then you may be eligible to apply. If you are not sure if you are entitled to rates relief, call the Land and Property Services on Free phone 0800 5877 477.
If you are eligible, this scheme will allow you to replace your inefficient boiler with a new grade “A” oil boiler or wood pellet boiler. You can also carry out other work to make your heating system more efficient, however the maximum allowance will remain at £1,500, so you need to be able to pay for any extra work you carry out.
To find out more information about the boiler replacement allowance scheme or to receive an application pack, call the Northern Ireland Housing Executive on 03448 920 900 or visit:
