Good Relations
Good Relations Grant Aid exists to support and encourage the development of Good Relations work within Cookstown District. Cookstown District Council recognise the valuable role that many voluntary organisations play in improving the quality of life and increasing opportunities for contact between people from different religious and cultural traditions.
Support will be given to projects which aim:
- To address the legacy of conflict
- To develop ways of taking opportunities arising from peace
- To actively increase cross-community contact and/or consider cultural diversity issues
- To increase the confidence of a community through Single Identity work
- To develop reconciliation, mutual understanding and respect between and within communities and traditions
Applications which are most likely to receive funding are those which can demonstrate how they are part of an ongoing strategy for sustainable cross-community contact with potential to lead to an improvement in community relations.
Those groups eligible to apply include: women’s groups, church groups, organisations and groups involved in Good Relations work, housing groups, cross-community educational groups, unemployment groups, playgroups.
